Why professional install matters
A small fault today is a bigger bill tomorrow.
What ignoring it can cost you
- TV set on 'shop mode' for months, burn-in on OLEDs, wrong colours on everything
- HDR and Dolby Vision never enabled, a £1,500 TV performing like a £400 one
- Sound delay (lip-sync) because the sound bar wasn't set to the correct HDMI-CEC mode
- Freeview channels 'missing' because auto-tune picked up a weak transmitter
- Streaming apps logged in to the wrong account, dropping recommendations for the whole family
Common DIY mistakes we get called back to fix
- Not enabling 'Game Mode' for a console, huge input lag on shooters
- Using the wrong HDMI port, some ports on the TV don't support 4K/120Hz
- Leaving 'motion smoothing' on for films, the 'soap opera effect' most people hate
- Adding a soundbar but leaving the TV speakers on, creates echo
- Guessing the aerial input on a new TV instead of using the LNB/dish input for a satellite feed
A clear five-step system, no surprises.
You'll know exactly what's happening at every stage. No jargon, no gotchas, no charging you for parts you don't need.

Get a straight-talking quoteNew TV set-ups, what's usually needed
Out of the box a modern TV is in 'shop mode', over-bright, over-sharp, with motion smoothing cranked. First job is switching to 'Home' mode and picking the right picture preset (Cinema for films, Standard for daytime, Game for consoles).
Next: making sure the fastest HDMI ports are used for the sources that need them. On most TVs only one or two HDMIs support 4K/120Hz or eARC, plugging your PS5 or soundbar into the wrong one throttles them.
Then: tuning Freeview/Freesat properly (not a blind auto-scan), signing into streaming apps, pairing a soundbar with the right audio format (Dolby Atmos, DTS, PCM), and setting up voice controls if wanted.
House-move set-ups
Moving in, you often inherit a wall of cables from the previous owner and no idea which does what. We label every input, re-scan for the local transmitter (which may be different from your old house), reconnect Sky or Freesat to the existing dish, and get the streaming apps back on your accounts.
If the aerial or dish isn't working, we can diagnose and quote for repair on the same visit, no need for a second call-out.
Firestick, Chromecast and other streamers
We pair the streamer to your Wi-Fi, sign in to your Amazon/Google account, install the apps you actually use (removing the promotional junk), and set up the remote-hand-off so a single remote can control TV volume and streamer navigation.
Where the Wi-Fi is weak in the living room we can advise on and install a dedicated access point (see our Wi-Fi service).
For older customers or those less confident with tech
A big part of this service is patience. We don't rush, we don't roll our eyes, and we don't leave until you're using the TV comfortably. Written instructions on a printed card, for common tasks like "switch to Sky" or "watch iPlayer", available on request. Larry has been doing this for a very long time; there's very little we haven't been asked.

How much does a TV set-up cost?
+
Depends on how many devices are being set up and whether it's a stand-alone visit or bundled with a wall-mount / aerial job. Bundled it's often free or heavily reduced. Call 07733 555269 for a fixed price.
How long does it take?
+
A simple new-TV set-up with Freeview and one streaming app is around 45 minutes. A full house-move set-up with Sky, soundbar, streaming apps and a walk-through is 90 minutes to 2 hours.
Can you set up any brand of TV?
+
Yes, Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, Hisense, TCL, Philips, Toshiba, Bush, JVC, Cello, anything you can buy on the high street or online.
Can you set up a Firestick or Chromecast?
+
Yes, bring the device out of the box and have your Amazon or Google account password ready; we'll do the rest.
Do you do house-move set-ups?
+
Yes, very often. We re-scan for the local transmitter, reconnect existing aerial/dish infrastructure, reset Sky or Freesat, and log the streaming apps into your accounts.
Can you help older / less tech-confident customers?
+
Absolutely, and gladly. Larry personally handles many of these visits. We don't rush and we explain everything in plain English.
What if I still can't remember how to use it after you leave?
+
Give us a ring, we're happy to answer quick 'how do I …' questions by phone. For anything more involved a follow-up visit is available at a reduced rate.
Do you fit the wall-bracket at the same visit?
+
Yes, bundle set-up with wall-mounting and it's one visit for both, at a combined price.
