Choose the right cameras (turret, bullet, dome, PTZ) and NVR size for your storage needs. Everything sized to keep at least 30 days of footage.

PoE cabling (Cat6) run neatly to each camera position, through lofts and voids where possible. Outdoor runs in UV-stable conduit.

Get a straight-talking quoteCamera types and where each is right
Turret cameras: our default for domestic front-of-house. Wide field of view, excellent night vision, very hard to tamper with.
Bullet cameras: long, visible, obviously a camera. Great as a deterrent on driveways and side alleys.
Dome cameras: discreet, low-profile, harder for someone to see which way they're pointing. Popular for shopfronts and retail interiors.
PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom): a single camera that can cover a large forecourt or car park, with optical zoom to identify at range. Overkill for most homes; useful for commercial.
ANPR (number-plate) cameras: specialist bullet cameras with the shutter tuned to capture plates at speed, day or night. Handy on driveways with recurring parking issues.
Resolution: 1080p, 4MP, 4K, what matters
Resolution alone isn't the whole picture (literally). Sensor size, lens quality and low-light performance matter as much as megapixels. That said:
1080p (2MP): fine at close range, e.g. a doorbell-height camera by the porch.
4MP: the sweet spot for most domestic installs. Recognisable faces at 5–8m, readable plates on a driveway.
4K (8MP): recommended anywhere you need identification at 10m+, or wide-angle coverage where you'll want to digitally zoom into a specific corner of the frame later.
Recording and storage
Footage is recorded to a local NVR (network video recorder), a small box the size of a hardback book, kept in a cupboard or loft. We size the internal hard drive so you always have at least 30 days of footage, often more.
Optionally we can add a second drive in RAID for redundancy, or off-site cloud backup of key events (motion-triggered clips). The base install is standalone, no ongoing subscription needed.
The NVR is connected to your router for remote phone viewing, but crucially the footage is stored locally, you own it.
Cabling, PoE is the standard
All our systems run over PoE (Power-over-Ethernet). One Cat6 cable per camera carries both data and power, so there's no separate mains fly-lead at every camera position, huge advantages for install cleanliness and reliability.
Outdoor cable runs are in UV-stable conduit rated for external use, and cable enters the building through weatherproof glands, not silicone-blobbed holes.
Residential vs small commercial installs
Residential focus is on discretion, weatherproofing and phone-app usability. Commercial focus adds retention (some businesses need 60–90 days recorded), higher camera counts, ANPR on entry points, and clear signage for GDPR compliance. Both installed to the same testing and warranty standard.

How much does a CCTV system cost to install?

Depends heavily on camera count, resolution, cable runs and NVR spec. A quality 4-camera 4MP install with NVR and remote viewing is a fixed-price job we'll quote after a free site visit, call 07733 555269.
How long does the installation take?

A 4-camera domestic install is typically one day. Larger 8- and 16-camera commercial installs take 1–2 days depending on cable routes.
Can I view the cameras on my phone?

Yes, every system we install includes remote phone viewing on iOS and Android. Live view, playback and motion alerts, secured with password and optional two-factor.
Do you have to drill lots of holes?

Cable runs are through lofts and voids where possible, so external drilling is usually limited to one small weatherproof hole per camera. We keep it as neat as possible.
Do I need Wi-Fi cameras or wired?

Wired every time for anything you're serious about. Wi-Fi cameras drop off the network, chew batteries and are hostage to your Wi-Fi coverage. Wired PoE is more reliable and future-proof.
How long is footage kept?

We size the NVR hard drive so you always have at least 30 days of continuous recording. Motion-triggered clips can be kept much longer.
Is there a monthly subscription?

No, you own the NVR and the storage. Optional cloud backup of key events is available if wanted, but the base install has no ongoing cost.
Can it record at night?

Yes, every camera we fit has infrared night vision with usable range of 30m or more. Recognisable footage at 3am, not just a dark blur.
Do I need signage for GDPR?

For domestic use covering your own property only, no. For any camera capturing public space or a commercial premises, yes, we'll advise on wording and provide signage.
What's the warranty?

Two years on parts and labour, cameras, NVR, PSU, cables and connectors. If any element fails inside 24 months we come back and put it right at no cost.
